Breaking barriers and forging facilitators: A mixed-method, multi-level framework for anti-human trafficking interventions in hospitality
通过混合方法研究,发现使用第三人称视角和情感诉求的培训信息能提升酒店员工帮助人口贩卖受害者的意愿,并揭示了个体、组织、社会与政府层面的促进与障碍因素。
Applying a mixed-method approach, this research examined effective training messages to promote hospitality employees’ likelihood of helping human trafficking victims and explored factors relevant to their post-training anti-human trafficking behaviors. A total of 164 surveys were analyzed using two-way ANCOVA and PROCESS Model 83, followed by conventional content analysis of open-ended responses. Findings revealed that training messages using a third-person perspective with emotional appeals (vs. rational appeals) enhanced employees’ perceived transportation into the message, elevating empathy and the likelihood of helping victims. In contrast, no differences were found from a first-person perspective. Complementing these findings, qualitative insights further uncovered a multi-level framework, including individual, organizational, and societal & governmental facilitators and barriers, shaping employee anti-human trafficking actions. This research uniquely offers actionable insights for crafting anti-human trafficking training messages and developing post-training support systems that address the complex, multi-layered factors driving and constraining employee intervention behaviors.
