Abstract

ABSTRACT The oil and gas industry is employing clean and green energy approaches to achieve environmental sustainability. A key part of this transition is the integration of green human resource management (GHRM) practices into organizational processes. While prior research highlights a wide range of GHRM practices, less attention is given to industry‐specific prioritization. This study addresses the gap by systematically identifying, classifying, mapping to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and ranking GHRM practices using a multi criteria decision making method, that is, fuzzy analytical hierarchical process. As the name suggests, this method is suitable for prioritizing factors to enable decision making. Seven functions and 45 practices were evaluated, demonstrating a systematic framework for implementation. The findings highlight green initiatives and green organizational culture as the top priorities for oil and gas firms. These insights are further substantiated through a case study of a leading Indian oil and gas company, showcasing the practical utility of the framework. Overall, the study presents a novel blueprint for GHRM implementation aligned with sustainability goals within the Indian oil and gas sector.
