识别了计算机辅助软件工程(CASE)产品相关的生产力问题,讨论了其对开发者和会计等需求指定人员的影响,并分析了CASE软件在提升生产力和质量方面的争议与效果。

Abstract

Abstract This article identifies productivity issues related to the use of computer-aided software engineering (CASE) products. The CASE software has implications not only for developers but also for those, such as accountants, who specify requirements for computer applications and work with development personnel. As with many proposed innovations, there is some controversy about the value of CASE software systems in achieving productivity gains and aiding in quality improvements. The productivity effects of CASE software can be separated into general effects that tend to be associated with all CASE products and specific effects that depend on the characteristics of the specific system being used. The general effects result from the fact that CASE software systems support the performance of "knowledge work." The support can be characterized as structure, methodology, and training. The possibilities for productivity gains are impressive, but there are characteristics that may reduce the gains. Some of these possible effects have not been researched, so they are somewhat speculative.
