Abstract The article presents information about the conference held by the Audit Research Center of the University of Georgia School of Accounting on Monetary-Unit Sampling on March 24, 1981, at the University of Georgia campus in Athens, Georgia. The conference was attended by the 32 academicians and practitioners, listed at the end of this report, each of whom has significant interest in monetary-unit sampling, either in using this methodology actively or in being engaged in research in this area. The Conference on Monetary-Unit Sampling was the first conference sponsored by the Center for Audit Research. The specific objectives of the Conference on Monetary-Unit Sampling were to encourage an exchange of views between and among practitioners and academicians on important unresolved problems in the theoretical foundations and implementation of monetary-unit sampling so as to spur additional research, and to acquaint the participants with the latest developments in the theory and implementation of monetary-unit sampling.
