Abstract This article discusses the author's experiences during his first 100 days as board member of Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) in the U.S. One of the challenges I faced was trying to understand where people are located in this maze of overlapping organizations and networks. During my first-100 days, about 32 percent of my time was devoted to meetings of three or more people; about 18 percent was devoted to discussions with at least one other individual; and about six percent was devoted to informal time with board members and staff.
