:Several assumptions within the job satisfaction domain have recently been subjected to empirical examinations. The studies reviewed in this paper appear to have particular relevance to mis researchers using job satisfaction as either a dependent or an independent variable in their research. A distinction between periodic assessment of job satisfaction of mis staffs and the measurement of changes in user job satisfaction due to a new system introduction is suggested. This distinction has relevance for choices of research design as well as the possible choice of measurement instruments.
